Lalo could only have dreamed of this cast. The sound may be boxy and the chorus muffled but Janine Micheau is sweet toned as the nice girl and Rita Gorr supreme as the wicked Margared. — BBC Music Magazine, August , More.

A great return to form for Lalo Schifrin – and a straight album of jazz tunes, recorded after years of late 70s disco work! The album almost returns Schifrin to his 60s years with Dizzy Gillespie (except for the fact that there's no trumpet on the set) – and the tunes have a great mix.

Posted on by Kagajind. There’s a reason why ZZ guitarist Billy Gibbons is regularly featured in guitar magazines. His enviable tone, his spare and concise rhythms, and his heavily melodic ideas—copped from ancient bluesmen, The Rolling Stones, and Duane Allman, for starters—transform ZZ Top from a Texas bar band into serious.

LALO Vinyl Records and CDs As both a pianist and composer, Lalo Schifrin has made an indelible mark on twentieth century music. He got his start in New York playing with Dizzy Gillespie's quintet in the early s, but soon moved on to front his own Bossa Nova trio.

Jul 06,  · Considering this (these) album (albums) is (are) basically a hodge-podge of various recordings Ra spliced together, it's surprising how successful it really is. It sounds as though piece were chosen on the basis of their atmosphere, rather than musical consistency. And, please, ignore the "recorded at Sun Studios, New York" on the cover.

Digitally re-mastered two-fer containing a pair of albums from the Jazz great on one CD: Dizzy on the French Riviera and New Wave! These LPs mark the great trumpeter's first incursions into the realm of Bossa Nova (he had already been a pioneering force in the evolution of Latin Jazz) Both albums were produced by Quincy Jones and arranged by the talented Lalo Schifrin (featured here as well on /5(8).

On offer here are two albums by Lalo, the first is 'Bossa Nova - New Brazilian Jazz' and the second is 'Piano Strings And Bossa Nova'. There are Bossa Nova standards, some originals and American composers given the romantic Bossa treatment.
